        ABOUT THE ALMANAC of
       AMERICAN AGRICULTURE

This 300 page book is not just an accumulation of facts and dates.  It is a true picture of American Agriculture.
I tells a fascinating story of how modern-day agriculture got started, how it grew, and how it now feeds more people than any food production system in the world
It tells a story of how the great accomplishments in history occurred and presents the behind-the-scenes information about the people who realized these achievements.
From the times of the hunter-gatherers to today's multi-million dollar farming and livestock producing operations, the innovative nature of farm and ranch people is unequalled by any other segment of the world's population.
But its more than simply the story of farming, it is the detailed account of how companion businesses developed and grew; refrigeration, food safety, increased crop yields through chemistry and science, livestock health innovations, drought-resistant crops, hybridization of food crops, intensive breeding programs for food animals, the growth of the farm equipment industry and irrigation and crop protection sciences.
The stories of inventors, innovators, business leaders, politicans, government officials, explorers, pioneers, settlers, and the builders of transportation systems to serve agriculture and the consumers of these products.
This is what America is all about and it is what the "Almanac" is all about.  You'll be facinated and find it a valuable information resource.
